Bell gorge

Yes thats me in Murrays shirt being sun smart. Its been hard to get shirts that are sun smart so Ive resorted to this.

Another day in paradise.

And who would have thought! Murray relaxing.
There are so many beautiful places in the Kimberley.

A Blast form the past.

Hows this for a small world. Chatting in the pool at Home Valley Station to a family that were parked next to us. Mentioned that I grew up in Victoria and this guy says "where abouts" After telling him it was Kerang he says Is your name Donna? Not Donna Beatty? Yep, hadnt seen him for 30 years. Trevor Southern for those of yo who are reading this from kerang. The best part is he said you havnt changed a bit. "gotta love that at 45. lol We spent the next couple days with them and we all got on famously. They were from Cairns.

Home Valley

We stayed 3 days at Home Valley station which is a working cattle station in the Kimberley.

Wyndham

Look at what happens when you hit a rock on the Gibb RR and your tyres are hot hot hot.
Fortunately Murray as you would expect had the job done in no time so we wernt left standing in the too long.

We had a great day in Wyndham. There are some pics of the kids with some of the locals having some carvings done on boab nuts.these people are incredibly talented w ith thier art. Even murray is enjoying the cultural experience.

Thr beginning of the Gibb. It ws only 10minutes later that we did the tyre, this made us rather nervous but as it turns out the road was fine, we have done some real shockers of roads and this wasnt one of them.

Pentecost

+
Our little fisher boy, at the Pentecost in the Kimberley. He would fish for 3 and fourhours in 40 + heat in the middle of day as thats when the tides were right.  He has been well rewarded.

A car that was being towed after a trip up to Mitchell Falls. We did not make the trip up the Kalumburu track. We saw too many cars like this and the road apparently is the worst its been for 35years according to locals.

River crossing at Manning Gorge kept the kids amuzed for hours. This was the short cut to the gorge.

More pics

As you can see Murray has finally slowed down. We are visiting some beautiful places. This is bell gorge in the Kimberley. We have been travelling forna couple of weeks with another family from Cairns. They have a 5 and an 8 year ld and have been great company.
The Gibb RR was great but very hot and we blew a tyre after about the forst 10 km. Today we are heading up to Cape Leveque from Broome to Gambanam, a small aboriginal community where we are going to stay for a few days. The kids had a lovely camel ride along cable beach in broome yesterday. Will send pics later. If anyone is reading this and you havnt sent me your email address can you please do so as I have lost them all.im trying very hard to catch up so things might be all over the place a bit.

Darwin

Rumour has it that our dam should have quite a bit of water in it when we get back. We actually only ended up getting to Darwin yesterday. We spent 3 days in Litcfield national Park. Very pretty. Did you ever go travelling to Europe and got to the stage where it was like Oh Yeah another Castle or just another ancient ruin? Its getting a bit like that with swimming holes and waterfalls.God dont I sound ungreatful, But thats what its like here. We have swum in one beautiful place after another.
Have a picture of sunset over yellow waters in Kakadu, Ivy beside a giant termite mound and will at an old homestead (4wd and 2 river crossings to get here) and some poor woman brought up 14 kids here in the early 1900's. Doing all the touristy things in Darwin (and expensive). The kids went swimming with crocs today, granted there was a nice heavy piece of glass between them. They had a ball, I will try and post some pics of that soon.
Thanks for all your comments on the blog I love reading them so keep them coming.
